The only two teams left were those of A. Nottingham and F. Mercer, both with two lives. Mercer recently took one of Nottingham's lives in the first game of the final. Therefore, one game could decide the competition. Two first-year players, J. Gordon and J. Rhodes, are doing very well in the Morrison avenue club colts’ competition. A third-year player, R. Wild, is making good progress in the dub pairs competition. The R.S.A. Clubs’ singles and pairs competition are nearly completed, with the green playing very well. In the pains the remaining teams are those of C. Spearman, A. Nottingham, F. Archer, F. Hay, N. McNabb, D. Keen. They all have only one life left. Spearman, McNabb, Archer, and N. Hovell, all with one life, are the only players left in the singles. The Morrison avenue club greens are being i kept in good order by tbe club president and greenkeeper, Mr P. G. Morrison. The club is to be headquarters for the national women’s tournament which begins early next month. Very good games have been played in the Fendalton club pairs by Milner, a colt, and Lloyd. This team has beaten some good pairs on the way to the quarterfinals. Three of the most impressive players at the Fendalton club this season are A. Chambers, K. Burtt and J. Gilmore. B. H. Morris and G. Humphreys, two farmer leading jockeys, met in the intermediate singles on the Canterbury green recently. It. was a very tight game which Morris won. G. Humphreys still has two lives in the club’s pairs competition. He is playing lead for G. Hoffman. The points positions in the Christchurch centre's competitions are:—Three fours: Christchurch. 28; Shirley, 27); Sydenham, 28); United, 26; New Brighton, 25; Dallington, 23); Fendalton, 22. A toucher on the last end, which Blakeway failed to remove, gave the game to Penlington.
