G. D. Rowling Plays Well (MX. Preu Auociatloe) NELSON, January 33. An outstanding display by Q. D. Rowling prevented the touring English croquet team from making a dean sweep in ita match against the South Island which ended at Nelson this afternoon.

Rowling ecored the South Island’s only win in it* 8-1 defeat by fogland. He beet E. P. C. Cottar in the last day’s tingles, 28-12, 1-26. 28-15.

Cotter made a good recovery in ths second round but he went down again in the last round. Rowling made some excellent break* against the high-ranking Englishman and he was aound throughout.

England waa untroubled in the other singles gwne* and won comfortably.

E. P. C. Cotter (England), lost to G. D. Rowling. 12-38. 36-7, 15-36; W. P. Ormerod beat K Trainor, 36-0, 26-5; D. Curtis beet Mrs H. Dempsey. 26-5. 26-6. Llstch result .-—England 3 doubles. 5 singles; South Island, 1 single.
