Thieves Take Safe
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 22. The drive-in, help-youreelf and drive-out policy of a new supermarket ait Newtown was adopted during the long Anniversary week-end by thieves who took with them the store’s safe containing about £l2OO in cash, plus cheques. The thieves used one of the supermarket’s own vans to drive away with the safe. The theft was discovered this morning. Four men were needed to move the safe into the office when the store was first opened. The thieves broke open two doors. They moved the safe about 50ft.
