COMMERCIAL Trading Quieter On Sydney Exchange

Trading was quieter on the Sydney Stock Exchange today with prices steady. 8.H.P., British Tobacco and CJS.R. were unchanged, but A.CJ. weakened Is 6d to 67s 6d. Rothmans rose another Is to 37s 6d and R. W« Miller continued its rise to 20s 6d. C.I.G. also was firm at 92s 3d. Oil shares were also quieter. Barriers were more or less steady, but Mount tea rose 6d to 695.

Investment riwea were steady on Melbourne Stock Exchange today. Cox Bros, recovered strongly after yesterday's rally, which followed a senes of fails since January 2, rising 6d to te 7d. Tends— were variable, while oat and mining stocks eased. Rothmans rose 9d to Ms 9d. A.O. Gas rose M to ste 9d. Base metals and CommooweaMh loans were again steady.
