NELSON PIP FRUIT

Average Yield Expected

(N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, January 11. The Nelson pip fruit crop is expected to be an average one —about 400,000 cases less than the bumper crop of last season.

Commenting on crop prospects, a Department of Agriculture official said in Nelson today the excessive wet weather towards the end of last year would probably present growers with grading problems.

“As it stands now, given reasonable weather, the Moutere hills should come good on the crop they have got," he said.

No big changes from the early estimates of the crop were expected, although the Gravensteins coming were proving disappointing in size.
