NEW QANTAS MANAGER

Christchurch Visit This Week Captain J. Solly, the new Qantas manager in New Zealand, will visit Christchurch this week. He will be accompanied by the present New Zealand manager, Mr W. C. Schutt. Mr Schutt will leave on January 1 for Fiji, where he has been appointed manager. Captain Solly has been assistant manager at Singapore, manager for Indonesia, general manager for Malayan Airways. Qantas representative in Thailand, and mana-

ger for Fiji. He has more than 10,000 flying hours to his credit, mainly in flying-boats. Mr R. Almaide will arrive next month to take up the position of Qantas sales manager for New Zealand. Mr Almaide, who will be stationed in Auckland, was acting district sales manager for Egypt, stationed in Cairo, from December, 1959, to May, 1960. and went to the 1960 Rome Olympic Games as the Australian Olympic team's transport liaison officer. Mr A. King will take up the position of Qantas manager in Wellington next month. He was district sales manager at Auckland from 1956 to 1959 and since has been assistant manager in Victoria and Tasmania.
