WOMAN NOT WANTED
Sprayed Flies On Blossom (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 30. A woman who tried to scatter flies from the eyes of Blossom, the visiting sea elephant, was removed from Oriental Bay beach at 6 a.m. today. She squirted a spray at Blossom’s face and tried to give him milk, but was stopped by a policewoman and Mr N. Myles, the sea elephant's voluntary protector. Mr Myles, a young Australian who has been in New Zealand for only seven weeks, and two other persons are taking turns at watching Blossom.
The managing-secretary of the Wellington S.P.C.A., Mr J. J. Fury, today repeated warnings for the public not to go too close to the sea elephant.
Flies were not worrying him and the woman who had tried to scatter them had endangered herself, and the mammal's eyesight, he said.
