Goldie Painting For £97 10s

(KZ. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 29. An I°°s painting by Goldie fetched £97 10s at an auction of antiques in New Plymouth yesterday. The painting, “Portrait of an Artist,” was bought by a New Plymouth accountant, Mr F. Van Hattum. A New Zealand artist, Charles Frederick Goldie is noted for his Maori studies. One of his works recently brought 500gns in Wellington. A Wellington art dealer who was at the sale, Mr R. Louden, said Goldie painted the picture while at the Royal Gallery of Antwerp. The original was by a 16th century Flemish master, de Voss.
