FIRE BOARD SECRETARY

MrS. F. Marshall Retiring After 26 years as secretarytreasurer of the Christchurch Metropolitan Fire Board, Mr S. F. Marshall yesterday advised a special meeting of toe board that he wished to retire at the end of next April. After receiving his resignation with regret, the board decided that it would continue with a part-time secretary, who should provide hi* own staff and office ac-

commodation, and that it would advertise the position, applications to close on December 10, in time for the next meeting erf the board. In his letter, Mr Marshall said he had enjoyed toe work and the friendship* formed, but the time had come when he should relinquish some of his responsibilities. He would be continuing as secretary of toe McLean Institute.
