SECRETARY FOR 12 YEARS

Mrs E. A. Guillermo Retires

Mrs E. A. Guillermo, who has been honorary secretary of St Margaret’s College Old Girls’ Association for the last 12 years, retired from office ait last evening’s annual meeting. She is succeeded by Mrs T. W. P. Polson.

In appreciation of Mrs Guillermo’s outstanding work for the association, the retiring president (Miss G Rankin) presented her with a silver salver engraved with the school crest. The gift was from members of the association and its branches throughout New Zealand.

Mrs Guillermo, the former Miss Mary Pitts, joined the association in 1931 after attending the school for four years She has served for two periods on the committee, including her 12 years as secretary. Her daughter, Mrs D. A. Lindsay (formerly Miss Mary Guillermo) was a pupil at the school for 12 years. As a member of the school parent - teacher association. Mrs Guillermo was chairman of the women’s committee for some years For about 15 years she has been convener of a group of St Margaret’s College old girls responsible for the flowers and altar linen at the chapel of St. Michael and St George at the Christchurch Cathedral
