M.C.C. Beaten By Innings And 80

(Nj4. Press Association — Copyright) SYDNEY, November 19. New South Wales today scored a crushing innings and 80 runs victory over the M.C.C. team with a day to spare in the match played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. R. Benaud, N.S.W. and Australian captain, mesmerised the Englishmen in one of the finest bowling performances of his-career. He captured seven wickets for 18 in 18 overs.

English batsmen made only nine coring shots against him.

Resuming their first innings at five wickets for 408 this morning. New South Wales scored 124 for the loss of A Davidson’s wicket before Benaud declared at 532 for six—lB4 runs ahead of the M.C.C. Davidson was out for 55. R Flockton was 62 not out. and Benaud an unbeaten 40 in only 51 minutes. It was the highest score by a State side since New South Wales scored 629 for eight against the M.C.C. team that nlayed in Australia en rou*e to New Zealand in 1929-30

The M.C.C. again lost the services of the fast bowler F. S. Trueman, who suffered a recurrence of back trouble after bowling six overs. Three of the M.M.C. bowlers, D. A. Allen. E. R. Dexter, and R Illingworth, conceded more than 100 runs each in the New South Wales run spree.

Crashed Miserably When the M.C.C. began their second innings they crashed miserably in their bid to stav«- off defeat

Benaud whipped through the leading batsmen, assisted by some poor strokes by his victims.

Dexter was out to a full toss and Cowdrey fell to J. Martin’s long hop. P H. Parfitt scored most (22) in a stubborn stand, but it was a procession all the way

New South Wales gained another triumph to add to its illustrious record against touring teams. This was the heaviest defeat an M.C.C. side has ever suffered at the hands of an
