Nazis United, Says Jewish Leader

(N.Z.PA.-Reuter—Copyright)

GLASGOW, November 4.

Dr. S, J. Roth, executive director of the European division of the World Jewish Congress, said today there was mounting evidence that anti-Semitic, neo-Nazi and Fascist organisations in various countries were united in a Nazi international.

He told a meeting of the movement’s Glasgow branch that the West German Government reported last year that it knew of 450 organisations outside Germany which were part of the international Fascist movement and were linked with similar bodies in Germany. The establishment of the “National Party of Europe" was but one indication of much more widespread activities, most of them planned and conducted under the cl ( oak of utmost secrecy

and with secret funds, he said.

These groups might be divided on method and procedure, Dr. Roth said, “but they are united in their aim and purpose to moster race hatred against Jews and against coloured people, and so turn this hatred into an onslaught on democracy as a whole. Dr. Roth said certain Western countries, like Denmark, Holland, Sweden and others, had found it compatible with democracy to outlaw incitement to racial hatred by legislation. “British laws already deny freedom to expressions which are seditious, blasphemous, obscene, libellous or defamatory, in order to protect society or it's individual members, against certain dangers.

“The propagation of racial hatred and strife is no less of a menace to society and equally deserves society's attention by way of preventive legislative measures.” he said.

The meeting unanimously passed a resolution calling on the British Government to introduce legislation making public incitement to race hatred and discrimination punishable offences.
