Local Elections
Sir, —This “Disillusioned Nationalist's” latest effort leaves no doubt as to what type °f creature he is. He deplores what he calls this Government’s “unfair policy of making the user pay.” What sane being could think it unfair to expect one to pay for what one uses? Does our misguided friend imagine that everything should be free? As for the citizens’ tax, the sooner this conies the fairer it will be for all. I would suggest our disillusioned friend cease expecting the fairy godmother to suddenly appear with an armful of hand-outs. If “Disillusioned Nationalist” wants a better way of life than he has, the only way to get it is to work for it This may require more effort and going without some luxuries, but it is reliable and far more satisfying. Remember Labour’s promise of a £lOO hand-out in their last election campaign? Many were disillusioned after that Yours, etc M LESLIE. October 16, 1962.
