GELIGNITE STOLEN
Thieves Raid Magazine (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 17. Enough gelignite to blow several safes was stolen last night from the Ministry of Works’ explosives magazine at Porirua. The magazine was broken into during the night, and a check this morning disclosed that gelignite, detonators and fuses were missing. The most recent crime with explosives in the city occurred only last week-end when an attempt to blow the strongroom door of Hannah's shop failed.
The police now expect further safe-blowing attempts.
