The Queen has adopted a new personal flag specifically for use in New Zealand, says the New Zealand Press Association. It will be flown for the first time during the Royal visit next February. Her Majesty has personal flags for only two other Commonwealth countries at present—Canada and Sierra Leone. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said that the New standard bore the arms of New Zealand. On a blue field in the middle was the letter E ensigned with a Royal crown within a chaplet of roses—all in gold or yellow. It was designed by the Garter King of Arms. “The flag will be a symbol that Her Majesty is visiting our country as Queen of New Zealand,” Mr Holyoake said.

“It will fly on all occasions when the Queen is present, on buildings when she is in residence, and on ships when she is aboard.’’

Mr Holyoake said it was believed personal flags were under consideration for other Commonwealth countries also.
