BRILLIANT CHILDREN

“N.Z. Wasting Its Talent” (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 28. New Zealand was endangering the whole development of the country by wasting the talent of its brightest young people, sadd Mr W. R. Fam titan,. national president of the Educational Institute, in Auckland today. He urged the provision of the best-trained teachers and adequate school facilities to give these more able children the opportunities they need. "The community cannot leave the education of these future leaders to the care of untrained teachers who may be kind and homely, but do not have the expert knowledge to extend our brightest pupils. or. for that matter, to help effectively our slow learners.” he said. Mr Famitton sadd there were never enough highlyeducated people in the community at any time to do all the creative work necessary It was, therefore, vital to identify gifted children early and train them fully.
