HOTEL AT WAITANGI
Plans Approved By Trust Board
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Sept. 25. Plans for a 72 bed tourist hotel submitted by the Tourist Hotel Corporation to the Waitangi Trust Board today provide for the hotel and tourist bars to be sited on land to be leased from the board and for public bars to be sited on land to be acquired on the Paihia side of the Waitangi river. At a meeting today the board confirmed in principle the siting of the hotel on its land. The board is authorised to lease land for periods of up to 21 years under the 1932 act setting it up. Its land was a gift from the then Gover-nor-General (Lord Bledisloe). The corparalttan’s plans will now go to the Cabinet works committee for its approval and if this is given they will then go before the Licensing Control Commission.
