Widower Dies In Fire
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 19. An elderly widower died as the result of a house fire at 31 Leighton avenue, Woburn, about 3.34 a.m. today. He was: Wilfred Arthur Roberts, aged 84, a retired gardener and storeman, who lived alone in the house. Two side bedrooms were well alight when two machines from the Lower Hutt Brigade, summoned by neighbours, arrived. The flames were quickly put out. Brigadesmen donned breathing apparatus to search the four-room house and found Mr Roberts lying unconscious on his bedroom floor.
