BAT RADAR GUIDANCE DEVICE.—A research scientist of the Lockheed Missiles and Space Company finds his way through a wooded area blindfold by using an acoustic radar system similar to that used by bats. A miniature version will allow blind people to pinpoint chairs, kerbs, stairs, and doorways by interpreting the muffled whistles, whines, and squeaks heard through the stereophonic earphones.
