ELECTIONS IN PAPARUA
Move By Hornby Residents
“We feel with the rapid growth of Homby, both industrially and as a residentarl area, the Hornby Residents’ Association is justified in at least providing the opportunity to let residents take part in Hornby affairs,” said Mr E. P. Winter, chairman of the association, at a meeting in the Orange Hall at Hornby. It was decided that the asisociation should take an active part in the forthcoming local body elections. “This is the first time the association has done anything of this nature,” said Mr Winter. “This association is not as sophisticated as the similar associations in town which have political leanings,” said Mr Winter. “We are a nonpolitical association.” Messrs S. G. Simpson and Winter were nominated as candidates for the Homby riding of the Paparua County Council at the elections.
Mrs J. E. WoodhAm was nominated as a candidate for the Springs-Ellesmere Power Bera,rd. Messrs A. S. Burgess and P. A. Luke were nominated as candidates for the Hornby Licensing Trust.
