SEWERAGE OF AIRPORT

Board’s Policy In Area

The sewer to be laid from Oh ar loot t street to Wairakei road was part of the board’s third stage programme, and no priorities had yet been fixed for it, the works committee reported to the Christchurch Drainage Board on a request for information on the airport sewerage scheme of the City Council. If the council laid the sewer in Wairakei road from Wooldridge road to Charioott street, the board would refund the cost, if it was laid to the board’s specifications, when the board reticulated the area, it was decided. As the area beyond Wooldridge road was at present asoned rural, and any rezoning to residential was difficult to determine, the board decided it was not in a position to foresee when a gravity sewer in this part of Wairakei road would be required. if at all. However, if the council wished to lay a gravity sewer in this portion, the board would be prepared to consider reimbursement if and when residential development in the area warranted it. and providing the sewer fitted in with the board’s planning for the area.
