OPEN DRAIN AT SCHOOL

Council To Decide

Priority

The Briggston School Committee complained again to the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening of an open drain on the north side of Briggs road between Clearbrook street and Marshland road.

The Walmairi County Council advised the committee that the footpath could not be completed until the board either piped or filled in the open (train. The committee said it, and parents of children in the area, were concerned for the safe passage of children to and from school, and the uncompleted footpath created a hazard The board s works committee made it clear that it was for the county council to fix the priority for the work. At present it was tenth on the county’s list of priorities. If the council advanced it. the board would be prepared to carry out the work earlier.
