Ploughman For Championships

New Zealand’s champion ploughman, Mr W. A. Simpson, of Kia Ora. near Oamaru, will leave with his manager. Mr T. F. Carter, of Greenpark, at the end of this week for Holland. There. Mr Simpson will plough in the world chamipionehiips on October 4 and 5.

They will attend a function at Parliament Buildings before flying to Australia.

The world championships will be held on reclaimed land which was under the sea in 1956. As well as being manager, Mr Carter will be on the judging panel He will also represent New Zealand at two meetings of the governing body of the World Ploughing Organisation. At these meetings he will press for the allocation of the world ploughing championship to New Zealand in 1967. After the championship®, the competitor® will make a three-day tour of Holland Then Mr Carter and Mr Simpson will go to Britain. Mr Simpson will compete in the Northern Ireland ploughing champions and possibly in the English championships.

Their return flight will be by way of the United States.
