N.Z. BANANA SUPPLY
Samoan Govt. Assurance (N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 14. The Samoan Government had given Fruit Distributors. Ltd., the assurance they would supply bananas to meet New Zealand requirements. the manager, Mr C. R. Walker, said today. He was commenting on a recent press statement made by the Samoan Minister of Finance (Mr G. F. D, Betham) that Japan was prepared to take all the exportable bananas the country could produce. Mr Walker said at present Samoa supplied 75 per cent of New Zealand’s bananas If these were not available New Zealand would resort to Fiji. Tonga or other sources to obtain its requirements.
