ATTACK ON WOMAN
Police Search
Continues
(N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, August 30.
Police inquiries are continuing into the attack on Saturday night on a young Blenheim housewife, Mrs Bernice Jean Desborough. So far there has been no new development. They are searching for a person who was seen in the vicinity of Mrs Desborough's home in Grove road after the attack
Mrs Desborough, who suffered head injuries, has been discharged from hospital. Chief Inspector F. W. le Fort, who was in Blenheim in charge of the investigations yesterday, has returned to Nelson. The doors of the house were unlocked, he said, and an intruder who was inside the house, switched off the light on hearing the approach to the house of Mrs Desborough. He apparently expected her to enter by the front door and make his escape through the back door, where he m« Mrs Desborough.
“We feel the instrument used was something like a tobacco tin held in the hand.” said Chief Inspector le Fort. A bag containing a substantial sum of money which was on the floor in a corner was overlooked.
