Visit To City Next

Month

Two world-famous physical chemists will visit Christchurch towards the end of September. They are Dr. J E. Prue, who is reader in physical chemistry at the University of Reading. England. and Dr. I W Wark, a member of the executive committee of the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation.

Both men will lecture at the University of Canterbury, and both will address the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry Dr. Wark’s address will be given to a special joint meeting of the branch with the local branches of the Royal Society of New Zealand, the New Zealand Institution of Engineers, and the British Medical Association. Dr. Prue will speak to the institute on September 24 and Dr. Wark on October 1. Dr. Prue, a specialist in solution chemistry, is at present a visiting lecturer at the University of New England. Armidale, New South Wales.

Dr. Wark’s specialty is the flotation of minerals and the separation of low-grade ores, and in his address to the institute will deal with the development of mineral resources. He is senior fellow of the Australian Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Committee.
