DELAY IN INQUEST

Complaint To Coroner (JV.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 28. The father of a 13-year-oild Warkwortih schoolboy, Phillip David Wilson, wfho was killed when his bicycle and a truck collided seven months ago, protested in the Auckland Coroner's Court about the delay in completing the inquest. Although not required to give evidence, the father. Mr P. Wilson, of Hill street, Warkworth. appeared in Court with his wife. "For seven months we have had this hanging over our heads. I think you will agree that this inflicts a certain amount of cruelty on the parents," he told the Coroner ((Mr K. A. Snedden).

“In another case it might be a bread-winner who was killed and if I can voice my objection to the long delay it might do some good on a future occasion.” said Mr Wilson.

Mr Snedden said he agreed that the time lapse since the opening of the inquest at Wark worth on January 20 was unusually long. The inquest should have been completed at Warkworth, but he understood the Coroner there had gone on an extended holiday. Mr Snedden said the matter had come to his notice only last month.

In recording a finding of accidental death he expressed his sympathies to Mr Wilson and his wife.
