U THANT IN RUSSIA
Talks With Khrushchev (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MOSCOW. August 28. The United Nations Secre-tary-General (U Thant) is expected to have talks with Mr Khrushchev today in the Crimean resort of Yalta. They are expected to discuss Berlin and a wide range of United Nations problems, reports the British United Press. Among the United Nations issues that may come up are Russian objections to such United Nations undertakings as the Congo and the Middle East operations, Russian pressure for an eventual “troika” type of United Nations leadership and membership disputes in the case of countries like Germany and China. U Thant last night described yesterday's four-hour meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister (Mr Gromyko) as fruitful and useful. He told reporters at a Burmese Embassy reception that the talk had covered some of the main problems facing the United Nations. He and Mr Gromyko had not discussed the Berlin question or whether Mr Khrushchev might attend the United Nations General Assembly session in New York in the autumn.
