Protests To Lapse (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug ?7 Residents of the Auckland suburb' of Mount Albert who have protested against the proposed Borstal prerelease hostel in their district have agreed to let their protests lapse, according to Mr W W. Freer, member of Parliament for Mount Albert. Mr Freer said today that he had met about 30 of the residents and some members of the Mount Albert Housewives’ Association at the week-end and the hostel proposal had been discussed “fully and frankly." The meeting agreed that the protests would lapse subject to his obtaining written assurances from the Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan) about the type of youth the hostel would cater for and that the number would be permanently limited to about 10. Mr Freer said.
