Y.M.C.A. STREET APPEAL

Collection In City Tomorrow

The building of better citizens is the theme behind this year’s Y.M.C.A. street appeal. to be held tomorrow.

"The Y.M.C.A. offers an excellent training for youth in this age of difficulties and temptations.” said the appeal organiser (Mr C. A. Williams) yesterday.

About 300 to 400 collectors would take part in the appeal. but offers from high school students and adults were welcome.

It was hoped to better last year’s record collection of £1132, Mr Williams said.

A large part of the funds would go toward the Y.M.C.A. building in Greers road.

An appeal to the public to support the collection was

made by the Mayor (Mr G. Manning). “By the Y.M.C.A. work, the parents of young people can feel that something constructive is being done to build better citizens of the future.” he said.
