GENTRY TO START
Recovery From Injury
The Auckland pacer. Gentry, will be a definite starter in the National Handicap at Addington on Saturday. His trainer. P. Stewart, said that Gentry’s bruised foot, which had prevented him starting in the Lightning Free-for-all last Saturday, had recovered completely. Today Gentry will probably be given his first hoppled work since last Thursday. F. Smith, who travelled south to drive Gentry last week, will not return for the second day of the meeting No definite driving engagement had been made for Gentry, said Stewart yesterday. P. Wolfenden will not return south to drive Motif in the two-mile Improvers’ Handicap, in which he will probably be handled by R. Young Tactile and Jack Super have arrived from Wyndham to fulfil engagements at Addington on Saturday. Tactile is the early favourite for the Canterbury Challenge Stakes in which he will be one of the back-markers on 24 yards. Tactile looked well when exercised yesterday. Both Tactile and Jack Super will be driven on Saturday by K. Balloch, who was associated with them in much of their racing last season.
