PARCEL POST BY ARAMOANA
Quick Service To Christchurch
The carriage of parcel mail on the rail and car ferry, Aramoana, is now providing a quick service between North Island centres and Christchurch. Parcels posted in Auckland and other points on a Monday are being received and delivered in Christchurch on Wednesday morning. On the average, one full railway wa<ggon of parcel mail about 500 bags crossed Cook Strait on the Aramoana each day, said the depuity-Chief Postmaster (Mr J. W. Lincoln) yesterday. Of such consignments, about half was delivered in Christchurch, and the rest at points south.
Since parcels shipped in the Aramoana are subject to less handling than if sent on the Wellington-Christ-church ferry steamer, fragile parcels are being received with less damage than formerly, according to the Post Office.
