HOCKEY Linwood’s Fine Passing Earns Side Six Goals

MASTERTON. August 21. Attempting to play controlled hockey, Linwood showed a little of what can be done with a passing game by defeating Lindisfarne 6-0 In the Wellington section of the secondary schools' hockey tournament today. Linwood’s forwards had a feast of the ball, and only solid defence and excellent play by the Lindisfarne goalkeeper kept the score down to one at halftime. In the second half Linwood assumed complete command, and scored five more goals. Lumsden (3). Hutchison (2), and Foley scored for Linwood. Tomorrow Linwood plays Wairarapa, and the winner will enter the final.

Other results were:— Section A.—Cambridge 3. Kuranui 2; Takapuna 3, Nelson Section B —Wairarapa 8, Wanganui 1. NEW PLYMOUTH Christchurch West High School, with eight points, led its section in the Taranaki part of the tournament. Today s third and fourth round results were:— Section A.—Third round: Christchurch West High School 3, Westlake High School 1. Fourth round: Christchurch West 4. Te Awamutu College Section B.—Third round: Thames High School 1, Cashmere High School 0. Fourth round: Cashmere 6, Horowhenua College 4.

DUNEDIN Auckland Grammar and Christchurch Boys’ High School look like being the teams to contest the final in the Dunedin section. Both have won four games and are undefeated.
