SERVICEMEN’S DUTIES
Aid In Crowd Control
Several hundred servicemen will assist the Police, traffic and transport authorities, with crowd control and street-lining duties in Christchurch during the visit of the King and Queen of Thailand On Their Majesties arrival at Christchurch airport late tomorrow afternoon the Royal New Zealand Air Force will have 150 men from Wigram at Harewood. On Friday Wigram will provide about 270 men for street-lining duties in Christchurch during ceremonial drives.
They will be assisted during the day by five officers and 260 soldiers from Burnham military camp and Area 10. On Friday evening the Canterbury division of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve will provide 40 men for street-lining duty. It will also provide a man to break out the Thai Royal Standard at the United Service Hotel. The R.NZ.A.F will also provide security guards for the eight aircraft in the Royal flight At Harewood on Sunday when King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit leave for Australia the R.N.Z.A.F. will have its 100-man Colour Guard and the R.N.ZA.F. Band.
A 21-gun salute will be fired by No. 32 Battery, 3rd Field Regiment.
