Appeal Starts Todav
The Mission to Lepers will launch its jubilee year appeal for funds today. The target for income from all sources for the vear has been set at £125.000, £25.000 of which is needed for a number of leprosy projects associated with New Zealand and New Zealand workers. Of this total, it is expected that regular subscribers, salvage proceeds and legacies will provide £BO 000. leaving £45.000 needed from the postal appeal The jubilee projects as they are called include a grant for a new hospital building at a leorosy home in Ethiopia when two New Zealanders work; a new leprosy control project in Tanganyika under the direction of a New Zealand bishop: two new buildings in Papua. New Guinea, one of which will be supervised by a New Zealand nurse: road access and equipment for a leprosy hospital in Thailand: a grant for a new leprosy colony in Viet Nam and another to help the Formosan Lenrosy Relief Association which has been formed recently. The average amount of the grants will be £’ooo.
Leaflets and reply paid envelopes will be distributed by the Post Office householder service.
