SEARCH FOR HEAD

River Higher After Rain

(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. August 19

The Tangahoe river, after heavy rain in the high country, was 2ft higher today than it was on Saturday, said Senior-Sergeant A P. Jesson. Hawera, tonight.

He made a further unsuccessful search for the head of Carolyn Louise Leach, aged 18. Senior-Sergeant Jesson was the only searcher today. It had been impossible to see into the muddy river, he said. The police would not yet completely abandon the search for the head, but he did not think their efforts would be as concentrated this week as they had been until Saturday.
