Lt.-Col. Mabbett Appointed
Lieutenant-Colonel J. M. Mabbett is the new Director of the Royal New Zealand Army Service Corps at Army Headquarters. He replaces Lieutenant-Colonel W. L. Dillon, who retired from the Army last Friday. Colonel Mabbett, who joined the Army in 1935. served with the 3rd New Zealand Division in the Pacific and the Fiji Military Forces for four years before going to Italy in 1944. He was commissioned in the field in 1941. After the war he held various regimental and staff appointments in the Northern Military District before being posted to Japan in 1952 and later Korea, where he commanded the 10th Company of the Royal New Zealand Army Service Corps. Since 1954, Colonel Mabbett has been in Wellington at the Central Military District and Army Headquarters.
