Fencing N.Z.U. Wins Foil Contest

Weakened by the loss of its two top men. E. Thomas and J Hanraa the Canterbury fencing team was soundly beaten by 14 bouts to two by the New Zealand Universities’ side in a men's foil contest last night. A Parder and G. Harris each gained one win for Canterbury.

The Universities' team consisted of R. Peterson, B. Pomeroy, and M Woods (all of Victoria), and P. McMechan (Otago). Canterbury was unable to meet'the Universities' team in a WMMRW foil contest, as Mrs O. JM&ll was indisposed and MlssesM. RiddoHs and J. Grieve were both fencing for Universities. In place of this fixture the six top N.ZU. women fought a three-a-side contest, the feature of which was Miss Riddolla's defeat of Miss Grieve, 4
