CHAIN OF OFFICE FOR MAYORESS.—Mrs W. Grant, president of the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Women, invests the Mayoress of Christchurch (Mrs G. Manning) with a chain of office from the women of Christchurch yesterday. The Mayor lends a hand. The chain, which is gold-plated sterling silver, carries an impressive medallion bearing an adaptation of the Christchurch city coat of arms.
