THREE QUEEN’S GUIDES
Presentation Of Awards Three 15-year-old fifthform Christchurch schoolgirls were last evening presented with the coveted Queen’s guide award at a special ceremony held at the Dominion girl guide headquarters in Armagh street. They were Roberta Galletly and Jennifer Williman. of 'the Christchurch Girls’ High School and of the 18th Christchurch St. Peter's Upper Riccarton Girl Guide Company, and Wendy Bartley. of the Burnside High School and a member of the 12th Christchurch Lower Riccarton Company.
They are the first three girls to receive the award in the Deans 'Riccarton) district of Christchurch.
Also present at the short candle-lighting presentation ceremony, conducted by the Canterbury Provincial Girl Guide Commissioner (Mrs J H. Powell). were the Divisional Commissioner for North Christchurch (Mrs D. A. Kidd), the newly appointed commissioner for the Deans district (Mrs F. N. Crump) and members of all the district's companies. Also on the programme was a presentation of coloured slides taken on a visit to California and Hawaii by a former Queen's guide, Mrs J. D. Davies.
