Farewell Tour Of South Island
The retiring Director of Supply and Transport at Army Headquarters (Lieu-tenant-Colonel W. L. Dillon) yesterday paid his farewell visit to the Southern Military District during a final inspection of all Royal New Zealand Army Service Corps units in the Sou'h Island. In the afternoon Colonel Dillon visited Burnham Military Camp and early last evening at Addington presented Lieutenant L. G. Leonard, the district catering advisory officer, with the R.N.Z.A.S.C. junior officer efficiency trophy.
Colonel Dillon, who has been in the same corps for 28 years, served overseas and on returning to New Zealand became deputy assistant director of R.N.Z.A.S.C. at Central Military District. Wellington. In 1955 he was officer commanding No. 10 company, R.N ZAB C in Korea where he served for 12 months. In January. 1958. he was promoted lieutenant-colonel and assumed the appointment from which he has just retired. Colonel Dillon and his family will come to live in Christchurch later.
