Live Shoot For Cadets
Next month about 50 selected Army cadets from 10 Christchurch schools will be given the opportunity of taking part in a live artillery shoot near Mount Torlesse. The shoot is being organised by A Battery of the 3rd Field Regiment, New Zealand Artillery.
Firing practice will be held on an artillery range, now private property, in the
area from about 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Altogether the 25 pounders will discharge about 90 rounds during the day.
The cadets selected will be from those Christchurch schools where training is given on this type of gun. The shoot will take place on September 15.
