Resumption Promised (N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SEOUL, Aug. 12. General Chung Hee Park. South Korean Acting President and chairman of the ruling Supreme Council, said today his Government would permit political parties to resume activities early next year. General . Park said in answer to questions submitted by reporters his Government would provide “political parties, pro-Government and opposition, equal opportunity and support to ensure their campaigning for general elections scheduled for May, 1963.” He said: “It is the hope of the military revolutionary Government that political parties which can vigorously enforce revolutionary ideologies will be born ” All political parties, including the former President Syngman Rhee’s Liberal Party and the former Dr. John Chang’s Democratic Party were disbanded when Dr Changs Government was ousted in a military coup d’etat lead by General Park in May last year.
General Park reaffirmed his Government's pledge to return power to the civilians in summer next year and said his Government was making the necessary preparations.
