GIFT OF CHAIRS

Lord Cobham At Napier (NJ!. Press Association) NAPIER, August 13. Two armchairs and six dining chairs made in Southland beech by New Zealand craftsmen were presented to the Governor-General (Lord Cobham) and Lady Cobham by the people of Hawke's Bay as a farewell gift tonight. The gift was made on behalf of the citizens of Hawke's Bay by the Mayor of Napier (Mr P. Tait) at a civic farewell in Napier. The function was attended by the mayors and ehairmen of 16 Hawke's Bey local bodies, the members of Parliament for electorates in Hawke's Bay. Sir Turi Carroll, representing the Maori people of the province, 700 official guests, and a large gathering of the public. An illuminated address was presented to the GovernorGeneral and Lady Cobham by Mr Tait. At a children's gathering at Taradale today, Lord Cobham was presented with three carved kiwis for his youngest children.
