Rugby Football BIRTWISTLE SELECTED
One Change By Canterbury g (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. The Canterbury Rugby team to play Wellington, at Athletic Park on Saturday, has one change from that which beat Manawatu convincingly on Wednesday. W. Birtwistle, who has now recovered from influenza, replaces D. A. Arnold at left wing. The selectors have obviouslypreferred to keep a winning forward combination, although D. Ellison and R. G. Cochrane, the reserves, would not have weakened the pack. The team, had a solid hour and a half work-out at Athletic Park today, and although one or two of the players were suffering from bruises, the practice was efficient and impressive. The surface at the park is in first class condition and should be ideal for the match. The Canterbury team is:—W F. McCormick, W. Birtwistle. Q T. Tapsell. P. J. Morrissey. R C. Moreton, A. F. Orme, B. A. Coulter, T. H. Moynihan, M. K Murtagh, R. Abel A. J. Stewart. D. J. Graham, K. J. O’Shannessey, D. Young, C. R. Hockley.
