Pulp And Paper Mill

Canterbury Pulp and Paper Mills. Ltd., is to be advised by the North Canterbury Catchment Board “that the board is prepared to grant the right to assign or sublet' the lease, subject only to the lessor’s consent, such consent not to be arbitrarily nor unreasonably withheld in the case of a respectable and solvent assignee or sublessee " Dr G Jobberns. before moving tlie motion, asked whether it should be taken in committee. It was taken in open meeting. the only comment being that by Dr. Jobberns who said the motion put the company on the same basis as others with leases from the board. The motion was seconded by Mr F L Wright and carried. [The lease refers to an area of land on the north bank of the Waimakariri river and about due east of the milk treatment factory on the Maim North road, on which there is a proposal to erect a pulp and paper mill in the future.]
