AIR SEARCH FOR YACHT
Pacific Trader Overdue (N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 3 The air search for toe 45foot yacht Tuaikaepau. which left Tonga for Auckland on July 4. continued todax when an R N Z.A F. Bristol Freighter spent five hours airborne. The Bristol searched toe coastal area north from Auckland to the North Cape, then out to Cape Runaway and back to Whenuapal. A Sunderland flying-boat from Lauthala Bay, Fiji, has also assisted The search will be intensified further afield tomorrow A Sunderland will search around the Kermadec Islands and follow a westerly route back to Auckland, and three Bristols will cover another area Seventeen persons are believed to be aboard the yacht, formerly known as Lite Ilex She has been trading around toe Pacific islands for some months. Two ships of the Royal New Zealand Navy will be ready to proceed to the search area if anything u sighted. The corvette Till has been recalled from sea a day early and will stand by after refuelling. The frigate Pukaki is also prepared to put to sea at short notice.
