Novelist’s Death

(N Z P A.-Reuter—Copy rig ht) LERE (Central France). July 28 Richard Aldington. British novelist, whose book ‘‘All Men Are Enemies.” was banned in Australia, has died at the age of 70. Two leading British libraries refused to handle bis “The Colonel’s Daughter" (1931), and his biography of Norman Douglas and Pino Orioli. “Pinorman” (1954) was said to have given offence to many in the literary world. Seven years ago Aldington created a stir with his biographical book on T. E. Lawrence, “Lawrence of Arabia.’’ He made an early reputation with his novel, “The Death of a Hero." published in 1929, and he published several books of verse as well as another controversial biography dealing with D. H. Lawrence.
