MORE RELIEF TEACHERS
Only One Vacancy
Reported
With the exception of a vacancy in one erf the more remote country schools, relieving staff was available to fill all reported vacancies even those of one day’s duration. the Canterbury Education Boards secretarymanager 'Mr W P. Spencer) reported to the board yesterday.
Compared with previous years, the situation today with relieving staff was very satisfactory indeed, and almost every day at least one former teacher got in touch with the office with a view to returning to the profess.on permanently, or, as ir most cases, for a short term be said.
However, the prosoect of even greater difficulties in filling secondary positions in district high schools was causing concern. In an endeavour to improve the position. an application had beer made to secure one or twc of a number of American and Canadian teachers through the Education Department.
