Review To Be Made
Concern was expressed at the very long waiting lists in many of the 36 kindergartens administered by the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association, when the assocation’s delegates' council met recently. The position is to be reviewed. A new kindergarten building at Rangiora is under construction. it was reported. The Macfarlane Park Free Kindergarten will be closed frm the end of this week for alterations to bring the building up to the required standard. It has recently come under the association’s control. More parents are accepting their responsibility in taking children to kindergarten and calling for them afterwards. reported the supervising director (Miss E. Millen! However. some parents needed to be made aware of. and to understand more fully, their responsibility. A “white elephant” stall would be included in the market to be held in the Durham Street Art Gallery on "daffodil day.” The resignation from the council of Mrs C. O. Mathias, a former vice-president, was reported, and appreciation of her services recorded. Miss B. Casbolt has resigned as director of the Shirley Free Kindergarten. She will be succeeded by M.ss N. Brixton.
School Sports.— The Kaikorai Valley High School and the Waitaki Boys’ High School would send teams to the Riccanon High School for competitions on August 9. 10 and 11. said the head master of the Riccarton school (Mr A. J. Gainsford) in his report to the school board yesterday. A Riccarton Rugby team would travel to play Mana College on July 31.
